Bespoke Bloke Designs

Jonathan is a full-time firefighter and part time knifemaker. For several years he made a variety of different things with hiJonathan is a bladesmith based in Limerick in the west of ireland. The main objective and goal for him is that each piece he creates is both artistic and functional, and he thrives on a challenge. Jonathan focuses on forging his own steel for his knives specialising in San-Mai, Go-Mai, Suminagashi and other pattern welded layered steel. Feel free to check out his work on his various social media platforms ,especially instagram where he shows the majority of his processes along with finished pieces.s hands, from furniture to handmade faux carved skull mounts until one day he decided he would make a knife, and that is when his obsession began.Since then Jonathan focussed solely on knifemaking,as each knife incorporates so many different aspects of design and intricacy he no longer felt the need to jump between different mediums to satisfy his creative urges, now he can do it all in one project, and with knifemaking there is a lifetime of knowledge and skill to learn.
Jonathan began working with copper, creating cake and cheese knives from it, although its not as hard as steel its perfect for soft foods and incredibly decorative. Using the skills he developed making copper knives he then progressed to using high carbon steel, although he still likes to make copper knives from time to time. The main objective and goal for him is that each piece he creates is both artistic and functional, and he thrives on a challenge. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in one of his knives
